Daniel A Bell (China)

Ethics & Political Philosophy

Born in Montreal, Daniel A. Bell obtained his B.A. at McGill University and graduate degrees at Oxford University, taught in Singapore and Hong Kong and held research Fellowships at Princeton and Stanford. Chair Professor of the Arts and Humanities at Jiaotong University (Shanghai) and Professor of Ethics and Political Philosophy and Director of the Center for International and Comparative Political Philosophy at Tsinghua University (Beijing). Recent books include ‘China’s New Confucianism’, the co-edited ‘Ancient Chinese Thought, Modern Chinese Power’ and the co-authored ‘The Spirit of Cities’. He frequently contributes to The New York Times, International Herald Tribune and Toronto Globe and Mail, and Chinese language publications.
