How to Book

All program sessions are free admission and do not require booking unless otherwise stated. Ticketing for all Special Events and where bookings are essential are available via the links on the session details.

Sessions Times

All sessions run for 60 minutes and are free admission unless otherwise stated.

Session Recordings

The Adelaide Festival of Ideas is being recorded by Radio Adelaide through the support of The Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide, University of South Australia Library and Flinders University Library, so many more people can participate in this important exchange of ideas through radio broadcasts, podcasts and online library archives. Broadcasts begin the Monday after the Festival on Radio Adelaide, on digital radio, online and 101.5fm. Visit radio.adelaide.edu.au or call (08) 8303 5000 for schedules.

 

Photography

The taking of photographs and the use of any recording device (audio or video) at any 2011 Adelaide Festival of Ideas session is strictly forbidden.

Friends of the Adelaide Festival

Friends of the Adelaide Festival may purchase two tickets to each Adelaide Festival of Ideas ticketed event at the discounted Friends ticket price.

 

Disability Access

Check the map and venues on Page 30 of the program for Disability Access Information for all venues. If you have any concerns or special requirements please phone (08) 8226 3114 so that Site Management can be informed.

 

Mind.Food.Cafe

Visit the Mind.Food.Cafe onsite in front of Elder Hall during the festival for a great selection of book titles, food and beverages, information booth and an installation or two.

 

Mobile phones

Mobile telephones and paging devices must be switched off during sessions.

Best car parking option: Gawler Place UPark – $8 for 1-2 hours (more for longer stays).

RIAUS, ADELAIDE TOWN HALL AND OLD METHODIST MEETING HALL
Best car parking option: Topham Mall UPark – $5 flat rate per day.

VENUE ACCESS

1. Bonython Hall

Disability entry is via the East Porch Door on the eastern side of the building which also has an access ramp posted with a Wheel Chair Access Sign.

 

2. Elder Hall

Disability entry is via a lift located inside the Entrance halfway down the eastern side of the building. Once inside the lift, press 1 for the Elder Hall Auditorium or LG for the Rest Rooms. *The lift will be open to the public commencing one hour before the starting time of all sessions.

 

3. Hetzel Lecture Theatre and 5. The Circulating Library

Disability entry is via the Kintore Avenue entrance to The Institute Building.

*The door with the Access Ramp will be open to the public commencing one hour before the starting time of all sessions.

 

4. Jervois Room

Disability entry is via the Glass Foyer Entrance to the State Library of

South Australia. Take the lift to Level One; from there, proceed into the Mortlock Chamber and the Jervois Room.

 

6. RiAus Auditorium

Disability entry is on Street Level where a lift to the Auditorium on the Ground Floor is located. Each floor is fitted with Disabled Rest Rooms.

 

7. Adelaide Town Hall

Disability entry is via a ramp on the southern side of the Town Hall.

 

8. Old Methodist Meeting Hall

Disability entry is via front entrance.
