Lecturer in the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Adelaide, Dr. Laura Brooks has a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and PhD from the University of Adelaide. She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to research underwater sound transmission at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, California; has completed a post-Doctoral appointment at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and her research has included underwater acoustics, microseisms, and flow-induced noise. In order to design for reduced noise emissions, her current interests include acoustic signal processing techniques and fundamental understanding of the noise-producing mechanisms of flow over bodies (e.g. aircraft, wind turbines, submarines etc.).
