Based in New York, Columnist, international public speaker on Arab and Muslim issues, columnist for the Toronto Star, The Jerusalem Report and Denmark’s Politiken, Mona Eltahawy was born in Port Said, lived in the U.K, Saudi Arabia and Israel. A proud liberal Muslim, she won the Anna Lindh Foundation Special Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism, the University of Denver Estlow International Center for Journalism and New Media’s Anvil of Freedom Award, the Samir Kassir Prize for Freedom of the Press and the Search for Common Ground’s Eliav-Sartawi Award for Middle Eastern Journalism and was named Muslim Leader of Tomorrow by the American Society for Muslim Advancement.
