Peter Mares

Peter Mares is contributing editor with the magazine Inside Story and senior moderator with The Cranlana Programme, a not-for-profit foundation that promotes ethical leadership. He is the author of Not Quite Australian: how temporary migration is changing Australia (Text 2016) and Borderline (UNSW Press 2001 & 2002), an award-winning analysis of Australia’s policies towards asylum seekers and refugees. Previously, Peter worked for 25 years as a journalist and broadcaster with the ABC and throughout his career has combined journalism with public policy research. He is adjunct fellow in the Centre for Urban Transitions at Swinburne University.
