Welcome to the official program guide for the inaugural Adelaide Festival of Ideas - three days of stimulating public forums, conversations and solo presentations covering a wide range of topics and featuring speakers from Australia and around the world. New thinking, ideals and issues all play a part in the program for this event. We invite you to join with us to celebrate and be a part of Adelaide's public intellectual culture. With the exception of three ticketed keynote addresses, the program is entirely free to the public - a distinctly Adelaide phenomenon which follows in the tradition of our internationally acclaimed Adelaide Festival of Arts Writers' Week. For this to be possible we are particularly indebted to our major sponsors - Nokia, the City of Adelaide, and the Government of South Australia through Arts SA and Australian Major Events. Without their belief in the idea, and that of a raft of other sponsors and supporters listed on the acknowledgements page, this event would not be as accessible to you.
