One of the world’s largest gatherings of dancers, dance educators, and artists of all ages, the congress honours rich Indigenous dance cultures from Australia and around the world. It includes five full days of presentations, social interaction and debate.

AFoI 2018 Keynote: Freedom and democracy: observations of a freelance artist

Bertolt Brecht’s 1947 poem The anachronistic procession, or Freedom and democracy provokes Robyn’s interrogation of the status of these two ideas from a cultural perspective. While ‘cultural democracy’ is on the rise, enthusiasm for social and political democracy wanes worldwide. It's assumed that we have freedom and democracy, but do we? And if so, how do we qualify those ideas?

Explore humanity’s ongoing struggle for moral safe ground in this ambitious exhibition. Having long been under the spell of Hieronymus Bosch’s 1516 The Haywain Triptych, Iacobelli brings Bosch’s eternal allegory of religion, politics and sin into a contemporary context.

Tutti Arts visual artists engage in cultural discourse with the Sikh community. Artists will embellish turban cloth, exchanging sacred objects to create new, shared objects that bypass cultural differences and unite rather than define.

Adelaide Dance Festival

Established by Adelaide’s own Australian Dance Theatre, the inaugural Adelaide Dance Festival is the first Adelaide festival dedicated to celebrating the art of dance. The program includes performances, workshops, installations, talks and masterclasses with both free and ticketed events.
