“Only connect”, E.M. Forster told us in 1930. Turns out everything is connected in a complex system of life. Not a series of discrete things (a biosphere, an economy, a city) which can be dealt with as separated units and managed in bits but a complex system interacting dynamically. What does this mean to our current way of thinking our structures of organization, public policy, our ability to plan cities, food, the future or just simply to cope with the complexity of our lives? What new theories of rationality are emerging to help us understand a world that is interconnected?
